2004 USET
Qualifier, Champagne Classic Dressage, Chandler, AZ:
Morocco led the victory gallop at Prix St. Georges in the USET (United
States Equestrian Team) qualifier class in Arizona on March 5. Conditions were
extremely adverse, with Phoenix getting record rainfall that weekend. After
winning the Prix St. Georges on Friday, Morocco took 3rd in the USET Qualifier
at Intermediare I on Sunday. This was his first Intermediare test. We leave
for California in April for the Del Mar CDI***.

USDF
Region 5 Championships:
|
 |
Morocco ended the season
by winning the Prix St. Georges Open Regional Championship title in the
large and highly competitive class at the USDF Region 5 Championships.
The field consisted of horses from Arizona and Texas northward all the
way to Montana and was possibly the most competitive class at the show.
Of 13 PSG classes this year, Morocco finished in First Place in 10 of 13
classes, including a large open class at the Burbank/Festival of the
Horse CDI*** in California, and he has been the FEI High Point horse of
all of his Colorado shows.

Columbine
Dressage Show:
Morocco was the high score FEI horse on each
day of the Columbine Dressage Show in Littleton, Colorado. He won the FEI Test
of Choice with a 64.75% on Saturday, and 70% on Sunday
Dalwhinnie
Dressage Shows I and II:
Morocco had another goose bump test at PSG on
May 31 at Dalwhinnie Dressage, with a 66%, winning the FEI High Score award, as
well as the overall Show High Score award. I was particularly pleased to get a 7
and an 8!!!! on the canter pirouettes from Elizabeth McMullen, "I"
(International) judge from Canada, on the June 1 test. I think the canter
pirouettes are one of the most difficult FEI movements to perform correctly, and
to get an 8 on them at this level is an accomplishment that makes me really
proud. I think that Morocco is just about ready to try his first Intermediare I
test!
Grand
Valley Dressage Spring Show:
Morocco had a mistake free test at PSG on May
10, winning the class with a 71.25%. He was entered only in this one class at
this show, and he made it count! He was with me every step of the way... I could
not have been more pleased with his effort or the judge's marks and comments -
he is making his debut into the FEI ranks effortlessly!
Burbank CDI***/Festival of the Horse:
Morocco and I had a good trip to California. I
am so pleased with Morocco's first Prix St. Georges classes. He had a very
obedient CDI test at the Burbank CDI***. There were 39 (yes, 39!!) of the best
horses in the US showing at PSG, many of them held back from Grand Prix this
year in order to make the Pan American Team selection. Although Morocco did not
place in the CDI class, I was thrilled that he went in and performed a pleasant
test with no sizeable mistakes. On Sunday, we had a super test in the very large
Open Prix St. Georges class, and were delighted to find out that we placed first,
with many well known names in the line up. What more could I wish for with a 7
year old stallion?

USDF Region 5 Championships
- October 18-20, 2002
WOW - what a show for Morocco! Region 5
extends from Montana all the way south to Arizona and Texas.
We won the 3rd Level Open Regional
Championship with a 69.8%. I believe this was the highest Championship score of
the show. Stephen Clarke, FEI Olympic ranked judge from Great Britain gave
Morocco incredible collective marks with a 9 on gaits, 8 on impulsion, 7 on
submission, and 8 on the rider score!! On the bottom of the test, his written
test comments were "Wonderful horse! Shows the RARE ability to REALLY
collect and extend! Good luck in the Future!" Stephen Clarke made a point
of finding me after the class to tell me that Morocco was the "Nicest horse
he has seen in a long while" - this took my breath away, as he judges
Olympics and World Cups in Europe and is a VERY sought after International level
judge. Theresa Hunt, Region 5 Director, commented that Morocco had a new branch
of his fan club in Arizona now.
Morocco won both of his large Open classes and
received a fantastic score of 72.8% at 4th Level Test 1, with collectives of 9,
8, 6, 8, and several 9's and 8's throughout the test - I believe this was the
high score for the 3-day, 3-arena show. We came away with the following awards
for the show:
Regional Champion - 3rd Level Open - 69.8%
4th Level High Score - 72.8%
3rd Level High Score - 69.8%
Colorado High Score Cooler - 72.8%
AND Stephen Clarke's blessing for the future!

Foothills Dressage
- June 21 -
23, 2002
Morocco was the overall high scoring horse out of more than
260 rides during the 3 day competition with a score of 73.4% in 3rd Level Test
3, receiving another 9 on his extended trot and 8's on the extended canter,
flying changes and half passes. Morocco won his 3rd Level Test 1 as well with a
score of 68.4% and was also the highest scoring 3rd Level horse at the
competition. The "Foothills" show is one of Colorado's best attended
and largest shows.
Dalwhinnie Dressage - June 1
and 2, 2002
Morocco won 4th Level with a 72% AND was 3rd Level champion,
4th Level champion, and High Score champion of the show over all of the rides -
he was fabulous! He received a "10" on his medium trot, a 9 for the
reinback, and several 8's for canter work and flying changes. He also had a 69%
at 3rd Level, winning the class. This was a large show with 2 arenas going all
day for both days.
Grand Valley Dressage - May 10
and 11, 2002
Morocco was 3rd Level Champion with 2 classes and scores of
68% and 70%. The Judge told the Show Committee that she gave Morocco the only
"9" awarded for the entire show - this was for his extended trot.
